Leaving the UK does not normally mean that you must immediately sell your shares or pay Capital Gains Tax simply because you become non-resident. However, the tax position can become more complicated if you sell shares after leaving, return to the UK within the temporary non-residence period, own shares in a UK property-rich company or continue receiving income from your business.
